what is a mission
We define a mission as our responsibility to do what is right for our fellow man. Now we realize this is a very broad definition and leaves a lot of room for personal interpritation. But as a follower of Jesus Christ, we believe that the Holy Spirit is our guide helping us to define what is right for our fellow man and as such each of us contains a potentially indivual responsibility to our fellow man.

Examples of a mission are:

  • Giving a water bottle and granola bar to a homeless person
  • Taking a co-worker to lunch
  • Visiting an orphanage in Africa
  • Praying with a friend
  • Building houses in a Mexico
  • Treating another as we wish to be treated

Now these are just a few of the many potential missions God has laid out. So the obvious question is: What is YOUR mission today?

how we can help
First you must understand that Jesus called us to GO! We don't believe He said, "Sit down. Pray and ask me where I need you. Then I will tell you where to go." Jesus does NOT need us, but instead He wants us! Second, look at Mark 16. He said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." So our philosophy is just GO! GO NOW! GO SOMEWHERE! GO DO SOMETHING! But just GO!

Now we understand it can be overwhelming to actually GO, which is where we can help. Fisherofmen ourselve is NOT a mission agency. But, through the relationship we have built with 4 H.I.M Ministries we are able to get you plugged into a trip in almost any part of the world! Africa, Haiti, South America, Mexico, Downtown OKC, and St. Louis, are just a FEW of the trips 4 H.I.M. offers.

What we can offer, from Fisherofmen, is to be the liazon between 4 H.I.M. and you. You won't have the stress of collecting monies, organizing travel arrangements, visa stamps, and all those little details that always get missed.

So if your church is interested or if YOU are interested. Just us the CONTACT US page. Put MISSION TRIP in the subject and send us your question.

where we are going
This question is always up in the air. We truely try to stay open to what God is doing. A guarantee is that weekly we will be out ministering to the sportbike riders in Oklahoma City. Most often this is showing up at a local meeting spot and just sort of representing. At least once a year this also calls for a "bike" blessing. If you are interested in being a part of this mission or wish to know more use the Contact Us page and put SPORTBIKE in the subject line.

Most other occassions where ever 4 H.I.M. is going, we can facilitate in getting you there through them. So click HERE to see their schedule.

how to prepare
The best preperation is still nothing to what God has planned. With that said, there are a few rules of thumb.

  • Establish a prayer team. Send them a list of things to pray for while you are gone. (Here are a few examples.)
    • Team Unity
    • Humbleness
    • Safe Mercy
    • Divine Appointments
    • Break through of communication barrier
  • Remember any perscription meds. (Specifically daily use such as for asthma, diabetes, and health issues that could slow the team down.)
  • Bible. You would be amazed at how many people don't have a bible on a mission trip.
  • Passport. This is required to leave the country and re-enter. (This includes Mexico and Canida.)
  • Emergency contact information for the team leader.
  • Current on neccessary shots.(Particularly yellow fever and tetnis.)
  • Your own pillow.(You need something from home.)
  • All your monies as soon as possible.(Waiting until the last minute can make travel arrangement VERY difficult.)
  • No heavy perfumed items. Some of the indigines people may be alergic to the scents of America. Mild is always better

Again, these are just a FEW of the many suggestions. As you register for a trip a detailed information sheet is provided. Most locations require specific supplies and gear.
